Job Description

This position is primarily for a property manager who can also support accounting staff in a bookkeeping role. As a Property Manager the successful candidate will ensure that rental properties are occupied, collect rent payments when due, coordinate repairs and maintenance and deal with issues in a timely manner. As a bookkeeper candidates will help post routine transactions into the accounting system, reconcile accounts and assist with the preparation of reports from time to time.

Property Management

  • Ensure rental properties are occupied including advertising empty units and  showing prospective  new tenants rental spaces
  • Onboard new tenants (walk-through inspections, sign rental agreements, etc.)
  • Deal with tenants and issues
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with the maintenance department and/or outside contractors.
  • Track and collecting rent when due
  • Prepare monthly rent rolls and other related reports
  • Collect and distribute mail to tenants where applicable
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time


  • Record accounts payable invoices and assist with cheque runs
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts
  • Help staff with weekly bank reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly source deductions and GST remittances
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time

Job Requirements

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the BC Tenancy Act
  • Excellent rapport with tenants and contractors
  • Ability to work with numbers quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work with computers and other equipment associated with the position
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Familiarity with computerized filing systems
  • 2 years or more in a previous property management capacity
  • Experience with challenging tenants


  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • Priority will be given to those who have completed a Rental Property Management Licensing Course or similar
Completion of a college program in accounting or bookkeeping is an asset.
